India vs Afghanistan: 3rd T20 A Thrilling Story Of Two Super Overs

India vs Afghanistan: 18 January 2024 , the Indian Men’s Cricket Team clinched victory over Afghanistan in the final match of the three-match T20 series which was health at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.

India did a clean sweep of the T20 series with a 3-0 lead after securing this win. The journey began with a six-wicket victory in Mohali, followed by another convincing win by six wickets in Indore.

In the first Super Over, Afghanistan set a score of 16/1. Indian T20 captain Rohit Sharma, with two sixes, helped level the score for India.

During the second Super Over, Rohit Sharma hit a six and a four on the first two balls while batting. However, Rinku Singh got caught at zero, and Rohit Sharma got run out on the next ball, leaving 11 runs target for Afghanistan to score.

Now the task was left for the bowlers to defend 11 runs in 6 balls. Ravi Bishnoi bowled the second super over for India and took wickets on the first and third balls of the Super Over, securing a thrilling victory for India.

Earlier in the day, India posted a challenging total of 212/4, courtesy of power-hitting by Rohit Sharma and Rinku Singh. Despite a shaky start, the duo shared a remarkable 190-run partnership, the biggest for India in T20 internationals for any wicket.

Rohit Sharma scored a marvellous 121 runs off just 69 balls, becoming the first batsman to hit 5 centuries in T20 internationals. Rinku Singh contributed with a quick 69 runs off 39 balls.

In the response, Afghanistan had a strong start with Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran reaching 85/0 in 10 overs. However, their effort to maintain the scoring rate led to their dismissals.

Despite a powerful 55-run inning by Gulbadin Naib and a quick 56-run partnership between Mohammad Nabi and Naib, Afghanistan was not able to get to the crossing line and only managed to tie the score.

Which lead to the Super Over where India emerged victorious. Washington Sundar, with figures of 3/17 in 3 overs, was India’s standout bowler in the night.
